Carandale Farm Field Day
Have you ever thought about diversifying your farm, but are not sure how to select plants that are economically, socially and environmentally sustainable? At this Savanna Institute field day, Dale, Cindy and Cory Secher will share nearly 50 years of experience with perennial fruiting crops, including many unusual species.
Come see a test plot where uncommon fruits are being evaluated for potential incorporation into an integrated cropping system that supports alternative local and regional markets with a smaller environmental footprint (and better bottom line).
After brief introductions and slides about the uncommon fruit research trials underway at Carandale, a walking tour on the farm will provide the opportunity to observe growth and challenges associated with the fruit trials.
We’ve got something for everyone, from hobbyists and backyard gardeners to nutritionists and commercial fruit growers.
Registration is not required, but is much appreciated to help us with a head count for snacks and such. Register here.
In the meantime, check out some information about the uncommon fruit research and test site and glossary so we can dive into the good stuff. Can’t wait to see you there!
