Q&A with Finalists for the Madison Terminal Market Feasibility Study
In February 2018, CIAS co-hosted a Madison Area Local Food Buyer & Distributor Meeting in collaboration with the City of Madison. Since then, CIAS, the city and partners such as the Wisconsin Food Hub Co-op have continued to advance the idea of a multi-tenant food aggregation, distribution and cross-docking facility, or “terminal market,” in metro Madison.
This August, the Madison Common Council approved up to $100,000 of funding for a feasibility study of a food terminal and cross-dock facility to (1) serve food retailers, restaurants, processors, and institutions in metro Madison, and (2) help connect Wisconsin growers to larger metro markets, such as Chicago and the Twin Cities.
Two consulting firms (ACDS and Crossroads) have been selected as finalists. They will be presenting their proposed approaches to the feasibility study 9-11:30am Wednesday, December 5th at the Madison Municipal Building (215 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd., Madison, WI 53703, Room 022).
Questions and input from local businesses and organizations are encouraged at the presentations.
