John Ikerd: Building a New Economy from the Current Economic Crisis
Room 115, Taylor Hall
Dr. John Ikerd, Emeritus Professor of Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri, is a widely celebrated economist, teacher, author and public advocate for a sustainable economy. John urges a shift away from our current economic system of “more cheap stuff” towards one which recognizes and protects the unique human and natural characteristics of our communities.
In September 2008, the economic leadership finally acknowledged that the economy was in trouble. Dr. John Ikerd can not only discuss what went wrong, he also has a vision of what can be done to reinvent the economy.
