Northern Nut Growers Association annual meeting
The 106th annual meeting of the Northern Nut Growers Association will be held in La Crosse, Wisconsin on July 26th – 29th this year. This year, the NNGA is working with UW-Extension, the UW-Madison Center for Integrated Agricultural Systems and the Upper Midwest Hazelnut Development Initiative to organize its annual meeting. Discounted registration rates are available for NNGA members, students and early registrations (before July 1st).
The technical presentations include a strong focus on hazelnuts, as well as talks on other nuts, perennial polycultures, and the business of processing and marketing nuts. In addition to the technical presentations on Monday and Tuesday, the conference features several social events and a Wednesday tour that will visit a wild stand of American chestnuts, Mark Shepard’s farm with extensive hazelnut and hybrid chestnut plantings, and a new hazelnut processing facility, and will end with dinner at the Rooted Spoon in Viroqua.
The meeting will be held in the Cartwright Center on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Lodging is available on-campus in Reuter Hall or at the Radisson Hotel located approximately 1 mile from the Cartwright Center.
