Midwest School for Beginning Grape Growers
The Midwest School for Beginning Grape Growers is a unique program that combines knowledge from experienced growers and UW Extension faculty. This class offers:
- Opportunities to understand basic concepts in grape production and what it takes to organize and succeed in this type of business
- Extended time with experienced growers, each offering unique perspectives, invaluable tips and practical know-how
- A chance to network and learn from fellow grape growers, farmers and entrepreneurs
This course is intended for people who are serious about starting a vineyard business in the Midwest. Growers who are new to the business and would like to learn more about IPM, variety selection and overall vine management are also encouraged to attend. This intensive, three-day course will give you a realistic picture of what it takes to run a successful vineyard—including management, marketing, pruning and pest control.
