Many urban farmers partner with community-based nonprofit organizations working for social justice and equitable food access. Urban agriculture is a viable strategy for building food sovereignty. Successful partnerships between nonprofits and urban farmers, however, depend on farmers being able to navigate the structures and dynamics of these organizations.

This workshop will provide practical information and answer questions like: Why do organizations take on community food systems work? How do you design, implement and evaluate urban agriculture programs? How can urban agriculture build an organization’s capacity to serve its community? The instructors will introduce Whole Measures for Community Food Systems, a values- and equity-based tool for planning and evaluation.
