Fifteen percent of the world’s food is grown in cities, but not all of it is grown in the ground. Learn how container farms are helping extend the possibilities for urban agriculture. With inexpensive containers and soil mixes, you can transform underutilized spaces into productive gardens.

Participants will learn to build a variety of container farms including sub-irrigated planters (SIPs), mason jar aquaponics, vertical planters and raised beds. They will make compost and vermicompost to nourish plants in container gardens. Participants will learn where to source materials for container farms, and they will have the option to bring home a SIP and mason jar aquaponics system.
